God IS in control

I've said this a million times, but God really does use the things around me to speak to me. I will pray and ask for God to speak and then the next day I'll open my devotional or watch a program or get an email that speaks right to the situation.

Today's devotional was this:

But Job replied, "You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?" So in all this, Job said nothing wrong. Job 2:10

Keeping our feelings in check requires effort; it's a lot easier to get angry, strike back, and respond in other negative ways to a situation we perceive as cruel or unfair. Experience has taught me that there is little or no lasting satisfaction in such a reaction.

Don't waste precious time and energy on anger. ------SBT

Then I get a Women of Faith devotional and this is what today's said:

God Rules
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength.”
-Isaiah 30:15 NIV

God is sovereign- not just a little bit sovereign, but utterly and completely sovereign. He controls everything. Not just some things…everything. Plain and simple: he rules.

There is a settled peace deep within my soul as I realize I am not in charge of my life. I’m responsible to that life, but I don’t have the power to orchestrate the events in my life any more than I have the power to make the moon appear twice every month instead of once. What I can do is enter into a partnership with God about my life.

In that partnership, I know I’m to daily seek his guidance and wisdom. I also know I’m to conscientiously live my days according to the practical principles he has laid out for me in Scripture.

God’s sovereignty will always hold levels of mystery for me, but that mystery actually feeds my peace. Why? Because I have faith in him. He has a good track record. I like it that he knows more than I do. I also like his style. He’s creative, has flair, and does the unexpected. But coupled with that drama and flair are his tender love and regard for me.

-MARILYN MEBERG (God at Your Wits’ End)

Again He lets me know that He knows what's going on and He has everything under control even though I feel as if everything is out of control. Maybe my perception is right....my life is out of my control, but luckily God is there to make it all run as it should.
